ABOUT THE PROCESS

It is process art, I do my best to determine the outcome, I manipulate the paint and the patina/rust acids but ultimately it’s the air temp, humidity, texture and length of dry time between applications of paint and acids that creates the look.
I start with some texture on the canvas then I start adding layers of iron, copper and bronze paints. I layer copper over iron, bronze over copper, and every possible combination there in. Many layers over layers, I add the acids to create the rust or patina in between layers.
I know when I’m starting a piece what colors, textures and composition I want and then I keep going until I feel it’s done and I’m happy with it.
